Mike Gold, from American Greetings, was in Phoenix this last weekend to give us his "A Tao Portfolio" workshop. We experimented widely with color, composition and lettering design. He stretched us to create contemporary letterforms, treating them as elements of line, shape and form, leaving legibility up to the more enterprising of readers. He is a generous and creative teacher. In the presence of such a kind and knowledgeable guide, we learned much about design, as well as the gentle teachings of the Tao.
